The University of Washington School of Law continues to excel

Founded in 1899, Washington School of Law is steeped in tradition. That solid foundation is giving current law students fantastic opportunities to progress in the cut and thrust legal sector. Washington School of Law keeps progressing year after year and everyone associated with the school strives for improvement. The school has a relatively low student to teacher ratio. The faculty to student ratio last year stood at 10:1 and this has been cited as one of the major reasons for their success over recent years. The faculty are recognized experts in a varied range of subjects and this gives students a good balance of knowledge moving forward in their careers.

The school opened a new building in 2003. Named William H Gates Hall after the father of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, the building is home to the students lounges, locker facilities, a snack bar, coffee facilities, The Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library and plentiful student organization offices. The building offers wireless internet access throughout, classrooms benefiting from the latest in audio and visual technology and dedicated computer labs. The Marian Gould Gallagher Law Library is particularly impressive with over six hundred and fifty thousand different volumes making it one of the largest law collections on the whole West Coast. The law library has been voted the best in America for three years running now and it is this thoroughness which enables students to achieve their full potential.

Only last year, in 2012, the school was placed at number 20 in the US law school rankings. That impressive ranking makes the University of Washington School of Law the top ranked law school in the Pacific Northwest and the seventh best public law school in the whole of America. Most of the students attending the school come from the Washington area although students from further afield are a regular sight walking around campus.

Graduates from the school tend to find work very quickly in their chosen profession. According to the universities very own website 86% of their graduated students from 2011 found suitable employment within nine months of graduation; an impressive percentage by anyone’s standards. Students have opportunities to progress through the ranks of the paid legal brigade with many striving to become a criminal lawyer in Silverdale, Belfair, Port Orchard or indeed Washington DC, the pinnacle of achievement.

The school has been the making of some very successful former students. Recent notable Alumni include Seattle Mayor Michael Mcginn and US Representative Raul Labrador along with many other former US Senators and Representatives. The school continues to turn out students ready and able to succeed in both legal and political sectors. It is clear that they will continue to provide a large number of future legal professionals.
